Casting the tumultuous history of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam against the rich canvas of the Near East, The Biblical World reveals how three great religions emerged from the same cradle. Author Jean-Pierre Isbouts employs a non-denominational perspective and a wide range of sources—from ancient hieroglyphic texts to the latest scientific findings—to place Bible stories in the framework of history.

With a foreword from bestselling author Bruce Chilton and text reviewed by distinguished advisers, The Biblical World offers a carefully researched, balanced view of history and religious tradition. For its scope, beauty, and relevance in today's world, this unparalleled atlas is destined to become a classic.

      Comments about The Biblical World:

I was expecting a book with only maps but it included the historical individuals related to the areas of the maps. I found that it helps bring the Bible alive and more interesting. I highly recoomend the book for those studing the Bible. It compliments the Atlas of the present Middle East by National Geographic.

      Comments about The Biblical World:

An ideal complement to serious Bible Study! I liked the 'Time Lines'at the bottom of many pages that show the 'overlap' of what is happening in different cultures during the same period in History. Order TWO! One for yourself and one for a friend or relative. GREAT Gift!

      Comments about The Biblical World:

This bible atlas seems to be written from a European perspective. Deliberately leaving out all references to Africa, except for those they could not reasonably omit like Egypt. Ethiopia and Ethopians are mentioned forty one times in both the old and new testaments, but not once in this Atlas. Esther chapter 1 v:1 Ahasuerus reigned from India to Ethiopia, over 127 provinces. No map of that province. I am very interested on African influences on christianity and thought this atlas would help. Not so much.
