I bought 10 of these to give as Christmas gifts to my family and friends. I know that everyone has GPS either in their car or phones, especially my nephews. However, I thought a GOOD Atlas, one that has more information about the areas, not just roads would be a good gift. So everyone is getting a National Geographic Atlas and $50 to help with the gas on their next trip. You can't dream of places to go over a GPS.

Except for National Parks section, not sure it is any better than Rand McNalley. I wish the topographical aspects were stronger so we could get a better sense of when the road was passing through mountains or desert, and even indicate the boundaries of metropolitan areas. I'm glad I have this resource, though; it is a fine publication.

Comments about National Geographic Road Atlas:

This is an excellent map. This is the second National Geographic Road Atlas I've owned. My first one was getting pretty shabby and outdated from so much use. I had bought other, newer road maps but always came back to this one. I specifically sought this out on the National Geographic website because I knew I would get what I wanted in a map. The relief on the map is beautiful, I love seeing the color boundaries noted for National Parks, National Parks, etc. The reading material about regional recreational activities is really useful and has inspired some vacation ideas! Next time I need a new map I'll definitely seek this one out again!

Comments about National Geographic Road Atlas:

I've been using the Nat Geo Road Atlas for about 15 years because it is the very best road atlas out there. Have given a few as gifts and they have all been very appreciated by the recipients. The suggested routes at the beginning are excellent.

Mileage and Driving Time Map. Lansing to Mackinaw City driving time is incorrect. I make this drive often and 4:50 is off by 1 hour. It is a 3:50 minute drive, never exceeding the speed limit. Love everything else about the product.

Just replaced my old Nat Geo road atlas with this new edition. It shows every road so it is dependable for those who do not have GPS. I really like all the detail. It's just fun to pick this up, sit down in an easy chair, and dream of places to go.
