Using seamless USGS topographic data, we're able to create home decor featuring maps of your most meaningful places. Provide any U.S. address and artisans in New England will create a clock on cork-backed, rustic tumbled marble-that reproduces a map of your location.

The map will show topographical information covering nine square miles including your chosen location, with some main streets and major landmarks. A small compass rose will indicate your chosen location and the address you provide will be featured on the personalized map legend. See the images above for examples of maps featuring both rural and suburban areas. Comes ready to hang, or use our forged-steel easel (sold separately) to display the clock as a desk accessory.

Please note: Personalized items cannot be returned unless damaged or defective. Please check your order carefully; once placed, your order for this item cannot be canceled. Not available for shipment outside of the U.S. Please allow 2-3 weeks for delivery to the continental U.S. and 4-6 weeks for delivery to Alaska and Hawaii.

One AA battery, not included. 8" square.

What are topographical maps? Topographical maps display land features such as elevation, roads, water, mountains, and some significant landmarks. Town and county names are sometimes shown. Streets are sometimes labeled.

How old are the maps? Our maps were originally drawn as long ago as 1890 and may have been updated many times since. Each map has been updated at least as recently as 2008.

Why isn’t a specific street shown on my map? Cartography is the delicate balance between aesthetics and the need to convey huge amounts of information. The level of detail is dependent on the location and elevation, just as it is with online map services.

Why do you need a postal address? We create a 9-mile-square map with your chosen address just off center. We also type this address in the map legend. Please double-check the spelling! We do catch and fix most errors, but your help is much appreciated.

My map is off by a few miles or many miles! On rare occasions our mapping software does not recognize a location. This is more likely to happen in rural areas—you may have had similar experiences with online mapping services. If we do accidentally handcraft an incorrect map, we will work with you to determine the coordinates (latitude and longitude) of your location and create a new map for you using that data.

Why is my map so busy/so sparse? The charm of this product is that we use real maps, which are unique to every address. A map of New York City (population more than 8 million) will include many streets and alleys. A map of Box Elder, Montana (population just under 800), will be the exact opposite.

Our rustic tiles are carved from large marble blocks, ensuring that no two stones will ever be exactly alike. Then the pieces are tumbled to give them character that can be seen on every surface, edge, and corner. The result is a one-of-a-kind keepsake with more personality that would be possible from a piece of manufactured ceramic. Please see additional images for an example of a tumbled marble tile.

The map imprint is a hybrid of original topo data and, in my case, some sloppy additions. It's clear from the different font and point sizes, recent attempts have been to modify the map. These modifications apparently do not include any proofing as evidenced by two glaring misspellings of significant roads. In several places, two-track seasonal hiking trails have been "upgraded" with red/orange lines to indicate improved, full-blown roads. It's perplexing and inaccurate. This writing is six days out from my request to hear from NatGeo Customer Service, who pledged a reply within 24-hours. Coupled with the presumptuous "service" I received on the ordering end, this has been a bust.

Comments about National Geographic ''My Town'' Map Clock:

I bought this for my son's birthday but it has ended up i the living room because it is so attractive. It's so attractive and the map was done so that both the Mississippi Sound (south of us)and Back Bay (north of us) are shown.

I bought one for some friends with a vacation home. It was a perfect combination of novelty and utility. They pored over the map and were greatly appreciative. After a week, they bought a new mechanism online because it had a second hand -- it was an easy upgrade.

Comments about National Geographic ''My Town'' Map Clock:

We use the clock at our cottage. It looks beautiful and the map shows nearby town and roads. It would help to have all 12 numerals on the clock. With just 12, 3, 6, and 9, it is a little difficult to tell time accurately for the hours in between.

Comments about National Geographic ''My Town'' Map Clock:

It is rare to find something as utilitarian as a clock that can offer the opportunity for an individual to be transported to a place on the face of the earth that can stimulate memories of special events or times. For anyone who enjoys maps, time pieces, or sentimental items, this is the perfect gift. My "difficult to by for" brother was very impressed at Christmas!!!! I was concerned that the rural area where our childhood home is would not have much interest or detail. Fortunately, the abundance of small lakes and ponds gave the clock face a nice touch!

Comments about National Geographic ''My Town'' Map Clock:

We ordered 2 clock maps as gifts. One appeared accurate and had appropriate colors. We and recipients were very pleased.
The other one depicted water in purple/pink color and actual street did not appear on map. . Called and another clock was sent. Second one still had same color issue.
