In the 1950s, a Chicago apparel manufacturer moved to Hawaii to retire, but ended up founding Tori Richard, an apparel company that has defined resort fashion for decades. Hawaiian culture has a strong Japanese influence, which can be seen even in the iconic Hawaiian shirt, a casual Friday classic from Maui to Maine. When they first became popular in the 1930s, Hawaiian shirts were made from imported kimono fabric, and this global mix of East and West still inspires Tori Richard’s designs.
These poly/cotton swim trunks feature a palm tree print that is inspired by the blue waters of Waikiki, Honolulu’s legendary white-sand beach. The fabric has a light peach fuzz finish, and features a full elastic waist with an inner drawstring. The mesh liner has a key pocket, and patch pockets on the side and back have a Velcro closure and grommets to let water out.
