Just as its title indicates, National Geographic Simply Beautiful Photographs plumbs the depth of National Geographic's renowned Image Collection to highlight the loveliest and most appealing photographs from this impressive archive. The result is an experience of visual delight, whether from stunning landscapes, magnificent wildlife, fascinating people, or quaint locales. Award-winning National Geographic photographer Annie Griffiths Belt has chosen remarkable images from all of the Society's core mission areas: exploration, wildlife, cultures, science, nature. Each chapter showcases a specific aspect of what creates beauty in a photograph, whether light or color, or motion, and illuminates that quality in a splash of large-format images most of which readers will be able to purchase as prints. Musings on visual beauty from scholars and poets enhance the experience, making this gorgeous collection a pleasure to look at again and again.
National Geographic photographer Annie Griffiths Belt earned a degree in Photojournalism from the University of Minnesota. Since then, she has photographed dozens of magazine and book projects for the Society. Annie's work has also appeared in Life, Geo, Smithsonian, Merian, Paris Match, Stern, and many other publications. She devotes a portion of each year to producing fundraising images for aid organizations.

Comments about National Geographic Simply Beautiful Photographs:
There are a great number of stellar shots in this book. Unfortunately, you can see them on the web better than the book. Poor print quality kills this book for me, I expected a fine art print book, I got an inkjet quality print job. Also, the layout with the text is horribly done. The reader has to flip back and forth (forward and behind text) to find images referenced in text, sometimes 20 pages away. The same applies to photo credits. After seeing the many images previewed on this site, I was excited to find the book at a local store. I should have made them unwrap one for a quality check. the one saving grace is seeing the various approaches many photographers use in the course of making great photos.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
