The Concise Atlas of the World, 2nd Edition—with more than 3,000 updates; 32 new pages of expanded content; and 500 maps, charts, graphs, flags, and illustrations—is the ultimate geographic reference for every home, office, and classroom.

The atlas opens with beautifully rendered, up-to-date, thoroughly indexed, political and physical maps of the world. Satellite mosaics depict the Earth from hundreds of miles above and world thematic maps show plate tectonics, climate and weather, oceans, population, religion, energy, and the economy.

Full-color physical and land cover maps enhance and enrich readers' understanding of the Earth's natural features. Each continent—and the United States—is mapped with political boundaries and corresponds to a comprehensive place-name index of more than 10,000 towns, cities, and countries.

New continental maps cover water availability and natural events such as earthquakes, volcanoes, and tsunamis. Country profiles provide national flags and valuable facts for all 193 independent nations of the world. Key information is provided about time zones, metric conversions, and geographic terms.

Comments about Concise Atlas of the World, 2nd edition:

I think this will be great to have around the house. My mother always had one for us and, even though computers were not for broad personal use when I was a kid, I think its good to have on hand despite computers today.

Sometimes you just have to hold something and be able to flip back and forth.

This also shows the timeline along the meridians. That's an invaluable tool especially as my brother lives in Japan with his family and we are in TN, USA.
