I've had this map for 9 years, as soon as it finally dies, I will buy another, and am considering buying similar US map. My kids are all growing up learning about the world from it as the primary guide to people and places.

High quality map and lamination, but...

The biggest problem I have with it, though, is the low contrast of the text against the background colours. The description said, brightly-coloured. Well, the map I received had quite dark, rich colours that first of all make the map look dark and gloomy, which I don't like, secondly, they make it difficult to read any text (countries, cities etc) due to very low contrast... I have a perfect vision, and even I struggle -- and it's a decent size map! Never had such issue with any map before, so it was no way anticipated.

We just hung this beautiful, 4' by 6' wall map in our classroom. The kids were so excited! They immediately wanted to find where they live and just about every other place they've ever been or heard of. I've got big plans including this map for teaching my children about countries and cultures around the world.

The colors are vibrant and attractive, the size is really great for the kids to get up close and find things and the laminate will help keep it clean and protected for years of use. The product is exactly what I expected from National Geographic.

My son had a map like this on his wall when he was a child and he maintains it is what sparked his interest in travel and world events. His early memories sparked me to use this updated map to decorate my grandson's room. If offers us many opportunities to discuss world events and to pinpoint them on the map. It also helps my grandson orient himself within a global perspective.
