Irish Walking Stick

Price:$59.00

Item#:2000978

Qty: Available, ready to ship.

Carried by Irish gentlemen for centuries, the shillelagh walking stick was often a symbol of a young man’s transition into adulthood. Since the mid-19th century, it has come to represent Irish craftsmanship and hospitality. The artisan who carves these blackthorn- and hazel-wood walking sticks in his County Cork home collects the branches on his daily walks through West Cork forests. Finished with a rubber tip for traction. Each is unique.

      Comments about Irish Walking Stick:

We bought this for my father-in-law's 90th birthday.
He needs some help walking and this was perfect for short distances. Since he is mostly Irish, he thought it was great and tells EVERYONE he meets when using it the story behind it. This was a great choice for a person who has everything he needs.

Recieved my beautiful walking stick. Wow,what a suprise. Respect to the craftsman who crafted this from a tree branch. I am a hobby wood turner who could only dream of crafting this. Definitely handmade. Love the fact the tree branches grow again.
