St. Basil’s Cathedral in Moscow’s Red Square was a Russian Orthodox church built in the mid 1500s. Since the 1920s it has been part of the State Historical Museum system and is now a UNESCO World Heritage site. Its iconic and brightly colored onion domes are recognized the world over, and have influenced the architecture of Russian Orthodox churches found in other countries throughout the world.
