Jaipur Pearl and Garnet Necklace
India's 17th-century Mughal rulers were great lovers of pearls, jewels, and gemstones. The rulers of Hyderabad were especially known for their love of pearls of all sizes. Portraits from that era show men and women alike decked in elaborate jewelry from head to toe. Our simplified version of a Mughal pearl necklace is inspired by those portraits, called miniatures. Handcrafted in Jaipur, it features pink and white pearls along with delicate faceted garnet, amethyst, and carnelian.

Although it is a pretty necklace, it does not look like a [$], or even [$], piece of jewelry. In the picture, it looks rich and elegant. But the actual necklace has very small garnet chips, and it is not at all outstanding. The length is a little awkward. It is too long and lightweight to rest on top of your clothing and just gets lost. The photographer did a great job with the picture!!
