Had the honor of viewing this film in the company of one of the soldiers in the film. This is as real as it gets! (without being there) This is the truest example of why we as a nation should cherish every soul who gives themselves to defend us. Sometimes hard to watch but will give you an "eyes-open" view of what our daughters and sons are dealing with every day.
As the father of a US soldier and the friend of many more, I am proud to support and thank these heroes.

I love war movies and period pieces. I have to say that this film is different than any of the others I have seen.
Considering that most Americans cannot locate Afghanistan on a map I greatly enjoyed the glimpse into their homes, culture, and impressive landscape.
Rather than being contrived by Hollywood this was realistic and that in itself is worth watching. You really get to see and feel what goes on in the middle of combat and the emotions were real and raw.
My only complaint is that it was too short.

I watched Restrepo the first night it aired on Nat Geo and was genuinely moved. As a combat veteran with a son who is a combat veteran, this documentary should be a "must read" for families and loved ones of returning veterans. So often our veterans are the victims of Post Traumatic Stress and when they arrive back home their families have no idea how to identify PTS or even what to do to help them. The Korengal Valley was the AO of some of the most intense combat since probably Hue City in Vietnam. Restrepo accurately shows the love that men in combat have for each other, giving their lives for each other. It is a true brotherhood that no one else can understand.

I'm not generally into military or history (don't hurt me!) but the reviews were so good I was eager to watch. Restrepo far exceeded my expectations. Just unbelieveable the situations these soldiers endure. I salute you all.

Saw the original airing on TV and was so enamored I bought the DVD. Just finished watching it tonight with a friend. I am going to "gift" the DVD for some friends and relatives. I am not a stranger to the military having served 20 years flying fighters - retired now. This documentary puts you in the fox hole with the grit and fiber of this country's backbone - the spit, scuff and heart of our brave young soldiers. I was touched, moved and shocked...and thoroughly enlightened. Big salute.

I would hear about the war on the news and see clips of it while watching news reports and thought i knew what was going on. It was not until i saw this story of our brave soldiers that my eyes were opened and reality hit me about how much they sacrifice for our freedom. This is a must see for every American and anyone who believes in the cause of freedom.
