Mehndi Waterproof Suede Tote
The north Indian city of Kanpur, on the banks of the holy Ganges River, has been a center of the leather industry since the mid-19th century. This rich suede bag is embossed on both sides with a design inspired by the mehndi tradition of painting on hands with henna dye, often an elaborate part of an Indian bride's wedding preparations. The pattern is said to represent the tree of life as it branches off through family lines. A waterproofing treatment has been applied, making this tote practical for travelers.
