Gozo Coral-colored Glass Art Vase
The swirling hues of Mediterranean coralfiery orange, soft pink, and milky whiterise up from the base of this glass vase and melt into broad ribbons of color. Mouth-blown by master artisans on the Maltese island of Gozo, where neighboring Sicily and North Africa influence the coastal culture. Gozo's Inland Sea and the Neolithic Gantija temples draw explorers to this small island, just 25 square miles across. The locally owned family glass studio employs a team of craftsmen from nearby villages at the western end of the nine by four and a half mile island. The workshop is in old mill on the main road between the villages of Gharb and St. Lawrence, with a teaching studio just steps away. Created in a traditional Greek shape, this weighty piece is a true example of glass art.
