Craftsmen in Bali have perfected their metalworking techniques since the Bronze Age. One ancient Hindu legend tells how the god Sang Citra taught the island's silversmiths jewelry-making techniques, including granulation. In this art form, minute spheres of metal are painstakingly applied, one by one, in geometric patterns. Here sterling silver granulation pairs with rich red garnet beads in a design that draws on 4,000 years of both legend and refined skill. Handmade in Bali by artisans.
