As their wild habitats give way to urban development, more and more birds live in residential landscapes. Increasingly, ornithologists are turning to backyard birders for critical data about their avian neighbors. And the easiest way for citizen scientists to observe birds is to feed them.
Designed with help from the British Trust for Ornithology, the epoxy-coated steel frame of this modern feeder lets birds in while helping keep squirrels and other predators out. The polycarbonate feeding tube holds approximately 14 oz. of seeds or nuts. The weather-resistant steel construction makes it suitable for year-round use. A lockable lid and chaff catcher help to keep the seed mess to a minimum.
Made from powder-coated steel and polycarbonate tubing. Approximately 10 1/2"W x 9 1/2"H. 3 lbs.
