Evoke the creative spirit of Rajasthan, India, with this colorful decorative truck crafted from reclaimed mango wood. In India, where some drivers refer to their truck as beta or beti (son or daughter), this penchant for personalization has become a bona fide art form. Drivers spend hours decorating their trucks with calligraphy and elaborate floral patterns. This rustic accent piece is a miniature version of the vibrant vehicles that add so much color to Indian roads.

Handcrafted in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, India. Reclaimed mango wood and medium-density fiberboard; glass windshield; water-based paints. 19"L x 10"H x 5"W. Not intended as a child’s toy.

When Sunil and Sameer met, both men were working 9-to-5 jobs and looking for a change. Their shared interest in the crafts of Rajasthan inspired them to pursue their own handicraft business. “Our learning curve has been so dynamic that every day we discover something new about Rajasthani arts and crafts,” Sunil says. “We are learning through our hands-on experience with the artisans who collaborate with us.”

The pair work mostly with reclaimed wood, iron, ceramics, and metal from old homes and warehouses, and they also use recycled railroad ties. Their goal is to create items that reflect the arts and cultures of India, but that can have a place in homes anywhere in the world.
