Inspired by the natural beauty surrounding their home on Vancouver Island, designers David and Anna Hall work in close collaboration with traditional Balinese carvers to bring this delightful trio of wooden songbirds to life. This rustic carving, which can be displayed horizontally or set upright as if the birds are perching on a tree trunk, represents the black-capped chickadee, the state bird of Maine and Massachusetts and the provincial bird of New Brunswick. In 2014 it was named the official bird of the city of Vancouver.
Handmade in Indonesia. Albesia and coffee-wood with water-based paint and furniture wax. 8 3/8"L x 4 3/4"H x 3"W. Approximately 1 lb.
David and Anna are deeply committed to fair trade practices and to keeping indigenous crafts alive. “By taking our designs to Indonesia and paying fair trade prices we are encouraging the continuation and training of traditional carving and painting techniques at a time when lots of young people are opting out of these traditional apprenticeships to work in in the tourism sector.”
