Comments about Venetian Glass Bead Bracelet:

I bought this bracelet in both colors, along with the Venetian Glass Wrap Bracelet. This bracelet has a very elegant look ... while I wear the Wrap Bracelet for daily wear, this bracelet looks much more sparkly and fancy and I tend to keep it for more dressy occasions. I am keeping the blue one and giving the gold one as a gift but might just have to obtain the gold one for myself as well as it is really lovely. The center bead is surrounded by a gold ring that makes it look a bit like a tiny globe, which I love. This bracelet also looks great when I stack it with several of my Alex + Ani bangles. Great purchase!

Comments about Venetian Glass Bead Bracelet:

Nice addition to any outfit. Looks best on a small wrist (around 7" wrist or under as the bracelet is thin). It will fit a larger wrist, though.

During the Roman Empire, as now, people used glass vessels in all shapes and sizes to store wine, medicine, perfumes, and food. The aqua-hued medallions in our elegant bracelet are fragments recovered from this ancient glass. Excavated in Israel, the pieces of glass are cut and polished, but still retain the texture of constant use. Each piece is set in a gold-plated sterling silver bezel.

Guatemala is home to more than 20 distinct Maya ethnic groups, including the Tz‘utujil, who live in the highlands. In the early 20th century, Tz‘utujil artists began painting bird’s-eye views of markets and festivals in a brightly colored folk art style. The Jauhari Bazaar comes alive at sunset. Located in the center of Jaipur—the pink city of Rajastan—jewelers, gem dealers, and chai hawkers fill the narrow marketplace to capacity. Faceted gems compete for attention alongside piles of glass beads. The riot of color and noise is overwhelming and exhilarating. In the shadows and alleyways surrounding markets like Jauhari, small-scale artisans create jewelry by hand. Made in one of these easy-to-miss workshops, these feather-light, gold-plated earrings feature a delicate fleur-de-lis pattern above a single teardrop glass bead.

Roman emperors commissioned thousands of different designs and denominations of coins and people from Britain to Spain to Syria still turn up Roman coins while plowing their fields and digging in their gardens. For collectors, there's nothing more satisfying than pinpointing when an ancient bronze coin was first minted. The reproduction coins in our multistrand necklace depict an emperor on horseback under the words OPTIMO PRINCIPI, Latin for "highest prince." Several emperors used this title, but it's most often found on coins minted by the first-century emperor Trajan.

In 1876 the Maharaja Jam Singh painted the city of Jaipur pink—the color of hospitality—in honor of the Prince of Wales’ first visit to Rajastan. The legacy of his gracious gesture lives on in Jaipur, which is known throughout India as the Pink City. For centuries before the prince's visit, Jaipur had been known as a jewelry capital, where artisans and merchants sold stones and worked metal. Many things have changed in India since the days of colonial rule, but Jaipur’s jewelry tradition remains strong. Handmade in one of the city's countless small jewelry shops, these beautiful earrings pair a traditional metal filigree motif with a faceted glass bead.
