        Comments about Jamavar Wool Scarf:

The colors of the actual scarf has nothing to do with what is shown here, which shouldn't have done by NG, right? I tried to attach a picture here, but was not allowed by the software. I am putting the picture on the NG/NGS Facebook page. You can see it there and judge it yourself. It is as different as black and white and if you see the picture, you will see if it is an overstatement.
This was supposed to be a gift for a friend. The gift box I ordered and was charged for was in a worse shape with 3 broken corners.
I returned it all and not even received a full refund.
Absolute disappointment from a beloved institution.

Our handsome herringbone-patterned wool scarf is designed and woven by a husband-and-wife team in their County Clare workshop, using an antique Hattersley Domestic loom from the early 1900s. These narrow machines, made in Yorkshire, England, of cast-iron, leather, and wood, are especially suited to weaving scarves because they create two naturally reinforced selvedge edges, rather than the cut and sewn edges found on industrially woven scarves.

Himalayan wildflowers bloom briefly during the mountain monsoon season. Hoping to catch a glimpse of the floral display, naturalists make the arduous and carefully timed trek through the Valley of the Flowers in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. Here, amongst the rare blue poppy and cobra lily, wild varieties of flowers fill the expansive valley with waves of sunset colors. Locals are particularly fond of the small wild geraniums—called ratijari in Hindi—which are used medicinally and as dyes for silk.

Artisans in Donegal Town carry on an age-old tradition of quilting with this patchwork tweed and knit wool scarf. Weather-resistant and extremely durable, Donegal wool tweed has long been one of the world's highest quality fabrics and a symbol of the Irish county where it is made. Patches of herringbone, plaid, checks, and heather make up one side of this colorful scarf. The opposite side is a cozy wool knit in a cable-stitch pattern. Each scarf is unique and patterns will vary.

A husband-and-wife team knit this soft merino wool scarf in their County Clare studio. The purple patterns are adapted from ones found on entrance stones at the prehistoric monument of Newgrange on the eastern side of Ireland. The site is positioned so that light floods the entrance passage and central chamber on the winter solstice. Today, tens of thousands of visitors enter a lottery to be one of only 50 chosen to experience this ancient phenomenon each year.

The simple design of our zip-front sweater hides a 500-year history of wool textiles in Scotland. The unique material—felted lamb’s-wool that’s softer and cozier than synthetic fleece, but with all the advantages of natural wool—is made by Lochaven in the heart of Scotland’s traditional textile district of Stewarton. Our grey-trimmed, felted lamb’s-wool sweater is soft and naturally water-resistant, both wind-resistant and breathable.

Maya weavers turn a new page on tradition by using sustainable bamboo fiber on their back-strap looms rather than the usual wool to create this extra-long, extra-soft scarf. The watercolor effect is created using a tie-dye weaving process called ikat. 100% organic bamboo. Hand-wash or dry clean. Hand-loomed by a women’s craft collective in Solola, Guatemala.

Part of standard-issue military wear during WWII, sweaters like this olive wool pullover were popular among servicemen for comfort, durability, and easy pullover warmth. The shawl-collar style buttons up to cut the cold just as it did onboard aircraft carriers in the '40s. Cotton twill canvas-reinforced elbows add durability. Imported.
