The designer who creates this lavish silk and cashmere-blend scarf for the upscale Indian label Pashma draws inspiration from her collection of 250 antique, hand-carved wood printing blocks. For centuries, block-printed textiles have been a specialty of Indian artisans, especially in the northern part of the country. Here, rather than using the blocks as stamps in the traditional method, the designer traced some of her favorite patterns and created a serigraph of paisley and florals in azure hues. Made using an equal blend of silk and cashmere, the resulting scarf is supremely soft and drapes luxuriously.

Hand-printed in India. 50% cashmere, 50% silk. 80"L x 20"W.

Dry clean only.

Traditional fabrics collected along a modern-day Silk Road journey are the inspiration for this luxurious, lightweight cardigan. On her travels between Persia (present-day Iran) and India, the designer of this silky-soft sweater searched through bazaars and vintage boutiques for examples of locally made fabrics. She used photo-editing software to scan the patterns and modify the colors to create a patchwork look that celebrates spring. Made using an equal blend of cashmere and silk, two of the softest, smoothest natural fabrics available—ones that have been traded along the Silk Road for centuries.

The artisan who designed this luxurious silk and cashmere-blend scarf first visited the Taj Mahal when he was 13, and the story of Shah Jahan’s breathtaking monument to his late wife Mumtaz left a lasting impression. Glimpses of the Taj Mahal—architectural details, inlaid marble, precious stones—form an ornate mosaic on this delicate and supremely soft shawl. “This is how I imagine the emperor viewed the Taj in his final days, keeping his love for Mumtaz alive through its beauty,” the artisan says. The images are digitally printed on a blend of silk and cashmere. The effect is part photograph, part stained glass, and entirely eye-catching.

The lacy teardrop shape known as paisley originated in Persia and came to be closely associated with the work of Indian Kashmiri weavers. As trade between Asia and Europe expanded in the 18th century, demand for the pattern was so great that weavers in the town of Paisley, Scotland, created their own version of the design, giving the pattern its Western name. Incorporating these curved and leaflike paisley shapes, our jacket is handcrafted of 100% silk. Artisans working in India embellish each jacket by hand with embroidery and beadwork, guaranteeing that no two will be exactly alike. Fully lined.
