Pia Pauro is one of India’s hottest up-and-coming designers. Her flagship boutique in Delhi rivals the chicest shops in SoHo or Milan, and the designs that she sent down the runway at Mumbai’s fashion week reflect her own travel obsession, incorporating what she calls “tribal bling” into eye-catching but wearable ensembles.

In this brightly embroidered, lightweight tunic, Pauro draws inspiration from the arts of Rajasthan, where vivid colors and hand-embellished textiles bring richness to the desert landscape. It takes an artisan up to 12 hours to embroider the hand-dyed dark navy blue cotton.

Hand-embroidered in India. 100% cotton. Women’s sizes S (2-4), M (6-8), L (10-12), XL (14).

Please note: This tunic features a straighter cut through the bust and hips than many of our other women's shirts, particularly in sizes L and XL. Please refer to the size chart. Women with curvier proportions may prefer to order one size up.

Hand wash.

Chikankari, the traditional embroidery of Lucknow, India, is believed to have been introduced by Nur Jahan, one of the most powerful women of the Mughal Empire. Stitches are worked on the opposite side of the fabric, leaving only a lacy outline on the front, as in our white, 3/4-sleeve tunic.

The Punjab region in northern India is brimming with highly creative artisans who make everything from ornate jewelry to detailed needlework bedding and fabric. This classic tunic represents those decorative arts with subtle tone-on-tone embroidery trimming the neck and cuffs and accented by a scattering of beads across the body and tiny bell buttons at the neckline. This embroidered tunic evolved from a typical Punjabi garment called a kameez, a loose cotton shirt with an airy quality to keep you cool. Made in India.

Artisans in a family-run Delhi workshop use nine shades of hand-dyed cotton thread to embroider flowers along the collar and sleeves of a traditional, split-V-neck cotton tunic. Yellow whipstitching along the cuffs and hem adds a finishing touch. Made in India.

Lacy screen-printed patterns and hand-embroidered flowers transform a classic T-shirt into an artful garment. The printed designs are inspired by the rice-powder drawings that women create in front of their homes in southern India. Called kolam, the drawings are meant to bring good fortune to all who dwell in the house.

Gurgaon is one of India’s fastest growing cities, but family-run craft studios still flourish amid the international businesses that are fueling the economic boom. Our colorful, lightweight jacket is made in one of these studios. Tie-dyed by hand, each jacket is unique, with hand-embroidered paisley patterns on the front and one large paisley motif on the back. Paisley patterns, based on a stylized mango leaf, have been popular ever since merchant sea captains began bringing Indian textiles back to Europe and the U.S. in the 1700s. Two front patch pockets, fully lined.

The colorful genus of flowers known as lily of the Incas was the inspiration for the hand-embroidered design of this cotton blouse. Peruvian artisans hand-stitch a handful of petite flowers along with a wealth of soutache embroidery and crochet lace details at the bust and cuffs. Button-and-loop closures and a V-neck collar, along with comfortable stretch-knit vertical side panels, make this blouse perfect for work or weekends.
