Overview

Over 50 years ago, in Little Rock, Arkansas, nine brave black students stood up for their rights and made history. The integration of Central High School in Little Rock changed the course of education in America forever, and became one of the pivotal points in the Civil Rights Movement.

Learn about it through eyewitness accounts and news photos. And get historical perspective through personal interviews with many of those who attended the 50th anniversary celebration in 2007.

This volume in National Geographic's popular "Remember" series also includes a timeline of the Civil Rights Movement, selected postscripts, a guide to resources, and an extensive index.
