After their sails were still for the night, Norman mariners would get out their dice and play Shut-the-Box. The simple and addictive game made its way around the world as trade increased among Europe, Africa, and China, and it remains especially popular in the U.K. today. Roll the dice and lay down any combination of tiles to match your roll. Keep rolling until you can't match your roll on the remaining tiles. Low score wins; lay down all the tiles and you've shut the box. Easy to learn and hard to stop playing, this handsome antiqued edition features an Old World look, wooden box, and wooden dice and tiles.

The "SHUT THE BOX" game was used at our local school for our youngest son who is now 18. Based on his suggestion and glowing comments about this game, we bought a set for him and each of our 6 kids children. Each set of Grandchildren absolutely fell in love with this game.

It is high quality, old fashion fun. I loved the antique looking box and wooden dice. This is a quality piece that will get years of use. An added bonus, is that the box is small and perfect for trips. It'll keep the kids happy and busy for hours.

This is the best gift we've ever given in the game category. By the way, do yourself a favor, and get one for you as well. Why should we grandparents miss out on all the fun?

I purchased this as a gift for a family who loves games. I thought it would also be a nice display item. The quality of the box is really poor, bad varnish job, rough hardware. For the price, I was expecting a better quality product. I won't be giving this as a gift, and it will cost me too much to return the item, so I guess I will just eat it.

Purchased as a gift for my daughter, this simple (but very attractive) little game became the hit of the season! Everyone loved it (it went along to multiple get-togethers)... it really is easy to learn, and highly addictive! Plus, since it is self-contained, it is also great to play during travel. A+!

I really like this unique game, it is fun to play by yourself or with others. The only reason I gave only 4 stars is due to the fact that the pips are off-center. Everything else is in good working order and I would definitely recommend it to a friend.
