Expand your travel wardrobe with this easy-care cotton tunic-and-skirt set, made as part of a cottage industry in the Indian city of Jaipur. The colors are inspired by the blue tiled fountains at Rambagh Palace, former home of the maharaja of Jaipur, where blue pottery techniques were once a guarded secret. The lightweight and loose-fitting no-iron crinkle fabric makes this ideal for pack-and-go travel, and the pieces are easy to wear as separates, too.

Please note: The brightness of our Jaipur Blue Tunic can vary a little from that pictured due to the moisture in the air when the fabric is dyed. During monsoon season—roughly June through September in Rajasthan—the colors can turn out a little softer than they do during the winter and spring. We hope that you will accept slight variations as part of the delicate balance of working with handcrafted items and small artisan studios.

Made in India of 100% cotton.

Machine wash.

Bust and hem measurements indicate that it would fit. Unfortunately, it is nipped in quite severely directly under the bust by 6". The arms are long enough for a gorilla and the colour is much duller and muddy. It is going back.

I love this outfit and also bought the pink set. The only negative is that the slit at the neck is too deep and I have to wear a camisole under it -- not so with the pink one, which is perfect.

In the early 1900s, Mahatma Gandhi championed a homegrown Indian textile industry as a means of national self-sufficiency. By the 1960s, Indian motifs and textile traditions were inspiring designers around the world. This comfortable tunic combines a classic Indian style with bold floral graphics. The Calico Museum in Ahmadabad houses India’s most important textile collection. The pattern of this silk-modal-blend tunic, called a kurta, is inspired by the museum’s early-19th-century printed fabrics made for trade with Europe. Hand-sewn pearlescent sequins add sparkle to the split V-neck design.

Bandhani is a tie-dyeing technique practiced mainly in western India. Intricate patterns are created by wrapping the fabric with string before dyeing it. Bandhani cloth is often used for women’s shawls, but here the technique is adapted for a silky trio of travel-ready garments. Made of a deep blue knit viscose rayon, these wrinkle-resistant separates drape beautifully and expand your travel wardrobe. The ankle-length skirt has an elastic waist and drawstring.

Artisans in India mimic traditional embroidery patterns by using wax-resist batik to create an ivory-hued design along the neckline, hem, and sleeves of this cotton-knit tunic. Butterflies also decorate the navy and turquoise tie-dyed background. Clear sequins add sparkle to a casual split-V-neck, 3/4-sleeve design.

During the 19th century, paisley shawls from India were all the rage in Europe and America. Later, in the early years of the 20th century, women who had inherited their grandmother’s heirloom shawls often refashioned the fabric into dresses and jackets more appropriate for the jazz age. This sheer butterfly-sleeve tunic is made in the same spirit of transformation, and updates a timeless paisley pattern in a contemporary style. Poly georgette with elastic ruching at the waist. Hits at mid-thigh. Camisole not included.

A paisley print in peacock hues decorates this lightweight, traditional Indian, split-V-neck cotton tunic. Paisley patterns, based on a stylized mango leaf, have been popular ever since merchant sea captains began bringing Indian textiles back to Europe and the U.S. in the 1700s. This loose-fitting, flattering tunic suits a range of styles with its classic cut and timeless palette. The design may vary based on the cut of the fabric in each individual garment.

Indian textiles have been influencing world fashion for centuries. In the mid-19th century, women clamored for paisley patterns on Kashmiri shawls. In the mid-20th century, the peace-and-love generation popularized bold graphics and Nehru collars. This relaxed tunic updates a ’60s style with a pattern inspired by raindrops on a lake. Semisheer 100% cotton with a split V-neckline and side vents.

The South American Alstroemeria is a genus of brightly colored flowers known as the lily of the Incas. Popular in floral arrangements, the 120-some members of the Alstroemeria family have an interesting trait in that their leaves are upside-down—that is, they twist so that what we see as the top of the leaf is actually the leaf’s underside.
