I ordered one for myself and one for a gift, believing that the size and weight would be suitable for carrying in my purse. In fact, the glass is much to bulky and heavy for such a use. I urged my sister-in-law to return hers. I kept mine, but wish I hadn't. It sits in a drawer.

              Comments about Celtic Pewter Magnifier:

I wanted a magnifier for those times I need to enlarge the fonts on Menus, or read Theatre Programs. I would have appreciated a stronger lens so I could see the tiny print on some packaging when I shop. My vision is pretty good, but the label requirements for small packages makes it impossible to read some of them. I only need glasses for my computer, so I just keep this precious magnifier in my purse.

I have used an old, scratched magnifying glass on a stick for years, and, felt that its' time had come. Coincidentally, this little number went on sale at the NG website. I use it for anything that comes with fine print produced, obviously, for teenagers. It is handy for reading model numbers on any number of electronic components. It has a nice, weighty feel to it, and, neither looks, nor, feels cheap. The celtic design looks attractive on my desk, and, it puzzles those who would know of its' purpose.

Unique magnifier. Glass protected by silver case. Easy to use and fits in pocket (I frequent auctions).
I do wish it was a tad thinner, but then it might loose some magnification qualities.

Croagh Patrick, where Ireland's patron saint spent 40 days fasting, is the country's most famous pilgrimage site. On "Reek Sunday," the final Sunday in July, tens of thousands of pilgrims climb its 2,500-foot peak. Nestled at Croagh Patrick's feet is the picturesque town of Westport, with majestic mountains on one side and the wild Atlantic on the other. It is here that our worsted wool pullover is made. Its thick-knit collar is inviting on cold days, and the three-quarter buttoned neck allows for easy layering. The Celtic knot design is inspired by the 8th-century Book of Kells.

This functional pewter-finished compass is decorated with a hand-etched Celtic design inspired by the elaborate illustrations found in the eighth-century Book of Kells. Made in County Westmeath in central Ireland, near the shores of Lough Derravaragh. Includes a woven strap and belt clip.
