In the heart of Dublin, designers at a family-owned jewelry studio draw on the backdrop of their ancient city, founded in the 8th century, to create classic designs that incorporate classic Celtic motifs. These sterling silver and freshwater pearl accents feature a classic Celtic trinity knot, also called the triquetra. Found in ancient Celtic texts like the Book of Kells, it has also become a symbol of the Christian holy trinity. In Celtic tradition, it symbolizes strength and unity—the knot itself has no beginning or end. It can represent past, present, and future, or the stages of a woman's life according to Celtic lore: young woman, mother, and grandmother.

  • Rhodium-plated sterling silver, to prevent tarnishing.
  • Handcrafted in Ireland.
  • Pendant 5/8"L x 1/4"W x 3/16"D; 18" chain with spring ring clasp.

The trinity knot is an archetypal design that, for many people, helps them connect to their tribal roots—be that an Irish or Scottish family background, spiritual beliefs both Christian and pagan, or simply a desire to connect with the world on an instinctual level.

This piece is created starting with the lost-wax casting technique. The design is carved by hand into a block of wax, around which a mold is formed. When the mold is fired, the wax melts away, leaving only the material for future casting in sterling silver. Next the bezel is cut and a pyramid-faceted gemstone is set, point side up. Last, the sterling silver is plated with 18k gold, giving a two-tone effect.

    Comments about Celtic Pearl Necklace:

At age 66, I pierced my ears on my grandson's second birthday, as he was born in June. He is the only child of my daughter and son-in-law who had been married for almost 18 years! Truly a blessing from God!

    Comments about Celtic Pearl Necklace:

Asked before ordering, but could not find out pearl size. Very disappointed in size when they arrived. Much better for child than adult. Not suitable for large ear lobes. Liked the design and quality very much and intended to give them as a gift, but sadly had to return the set. Shipping costs are ridiculous for the light weight items.

The jewelry is very beautiful, but much smaller than it looked in the catalog. I saw the length advertised. That was ok, but it is very delicate, not the bulk I was expecting.

Through the 1700s, the main industry in the seaside town of Torre del Greco had been harvesting coral, or "red gold." When the ruins of nearby Pompeii were excavated, it became a must-see destination with England's elite. Cameos made from the shells harvested by local fishermen were one of the most popular souvenirs to show off one's well-traveled status. This romantic necklace pairs a rustic, hand-carved cameo portrait with a string of cultured pearls.

The night bazaar in Thailand’s cultural capital of Chiang Mai bustles with creative energy. Artisans and food sellers cover several city blocks, and many artisans keep studios nearby. One such studio is run by three young sisters, whose resemblance is so striking they’re often mistaken for triplets. There they hand-string cultured pearls and gold-tone brass beads to create this romantic triple-strand necklace.

Pearls hold an important place in the mythology and folklore of cultures across the world and throughout time. For the Chinese, they were the tears of dragons fighting in the sky. For Buddhists, pearls are the jewel in the lotus, which grants all desires. This gleaming strand of pearls in shades of pink, gold, lavender, and white can be worn as long necklace or doubled.

The intricate Celtic cross—often decorated with elaborate trinity knots and scrollwork—may have first been used by St. Patrick as a symbol to convert Druids in Ireland. Combining the Christian cross with monuments that represented more earthly spirituality such as the sun and moon and tree of life would have linked pagan and Christian beliefs and helped the saint deliver his message throughout Ireland. Today many people are drawn to the design more as an expression of Irish or Scottish family ties than as a religious symbol.

A repoussé design on the chalice, representing a protective shield, is the inspiration for this sterling silver and 18-karat gold jewelry. Handcrafted in Ireland using the lost-wax casting process.

Portraits from that era show men and women alike decked in elaborate jewelry from head to toe. Our simplified version of a Mughal pearl necklace is inspired by those portraits, called miniatures. Handcrafted in Jaipur, it features pink and white pearls along with delicate faceted garnet, amethyst, and carnelian.
