Disturbing and Captivating

Comments about Inside North Korea DVD:

North Korea is fascinating. The place is so closed off to the world, that to see a documentary like this is extremely interesting. There aren't many opportunities to see what it's like inside the country and it's disturbing to see the high level of control the government has over its people. You get a sense of that as you watch this, and you will also see how brainwashed the people are, which is the most disturbing aspect of all. Perhaps the reviewer before me has seen a lot more of this than I have, and I will admit I am just starting to learn about this country. I was totally captivated all the way through and that is why I gave it 5 stars.

Introductory but Still Compelling

Comments about Inside North Korea DVD:

If you have been intrigued by North Korea, like I am, you probably won't learn anything you didn't already know in this DVD but there are compelling sections in it that are worth viewing.

The product description is somewhat misleading because the 52-minute duration of this programme is not entirely comprised of footage from Lisa Ling's visit to North Korea as part of a visiting overseas medical team.

Perhaps half of the programme is either background information about Korean history, the juche philosophy, footage from the South Korean side of the DMZ, interviews with defectors, etc.

Nevertheless, the actual North Korean footage is interesting, including a visit to a North Korean home and interview with the family. Without giving anything away, the final ten minutes of the programme is definitely the climax.
