Loved it!

Nice light weight, comfortable and the colors are great! Fit's on the large side, I usually take a medium but small fit's me great.

I was looking forward to this tunic, but was quite disappointed to find that it was not only darker than anticipated but, more importantly, the material is see-through - which for me means I'd need to wear some kind of camisole underneath; consequently, I have returned it. I really appreciate the sensitive and friendly customer-oriented approach of NG.

Comments about Indian Peacock Paisley Tunic:

I bought two different tunics from your catalog, and both have a peculiar smell. It is a smell I particularly associate with fabrics that come from China, even though these tunics designate other countries on the label. Considering the price paid, I did not consider them quality merchandise. Regretfully, I had to send them back.

Comments about Indian Peacock Paisley Tunic:

I order a size larger but was still too small. Very poor quality material. My sister bought the same top from here a couple yrs back an it was very well made an material perfect. The quality had really gone down hill but the pretty colors still remain. I would have loved it had it been made like my sisters. I sent it right back an was sad.

Really love the print. Wore to work and received so many compliments. It really needs to come in petite sizes for the length, which is a little too long. The side slits-are also cut too high, other than that I am very happy with my purchase.

Comments about Indian Peacock Paisley Tunic:

Loved this tunic; it was so colorful and vivid. It fit but I got the XL. Good thing because a large would not have fit (and I normally wear M/L). Light gauzy material; don't know how strong it is. I was afraid if I moved wrong, it might rip. It didn't but I didn't wear it that long. I would buy it again though.

Tunic is very long, and the slits go up very high. Color is more muted than the in the photograph. Material is light-weight which is a plus, since I live in a tropical environment. Would look best on a tall person.

Gurgaon is one of India’s fastest growing cities, but family-run craft studios still flourish amid the international businesses that are fueling the economic boom. Our colorful, lightweight jacket is made in one of these studios. Tie-dyed by hand, each jacket is unique, with hand-embroidered paisley patterns on the front and one large paisley motif on the back. Paisley patterns, based on a stylized mango leaf, have been popular ever since merchant sea captains began bringing Indian textiles back to Europe and the U.S. in the 1700s. As the overland route of the Silk Road crossed through China, the Himalayas, and Persia, semi-permanent encampments known as caravanserais grew up along the route to provide travellers and traders with food and shelter. Printed with an Indo-Tibetan mandala formed from traditional Indian paisleys, with a touch of silk for a luxurious feel, this blouse celebrates the legacy of cross-cultural exchange made possible by these informal communities of the Silk Road.

During the 19th century, paisley shawls from India were all the rage in Europe and America. Later, in the early years of the 20th century, women who had inherited their grandmother’s heirloom shawls often refashioned the fabric into dresses and jackets more appropriate for the jazz age. This sheer butterfly-sleeve tunic is made in the same spirit of transformation, and updates a timeless paisley pattern in a contemporary style. Poly georgette with elastic ruching at the waist. Hits at mid-thigh. Camisole not included.

From the garlands that bride and groom exchange, to the mandap (canopy) under which the ceremony is performed, flowers are a huge part of traditional Indian weddings. The watercolor floral motif on this tunic is inpired by these colorful rituals. Asymmetrical front hem; longer back hem.

Indian textiles have been influencing world fashion for centuries. In the mid-19th century, women clamored for paisley patterns on Kashmiri shawls. In the mid-20th century, the peace-and-love generation popularized bold graphics and Nehru collars. This relaxed tunic updates a ’60s style with a pattern inspired by raindrops on a lake. Semisheer 100% cotton with a split V-neckline and side vents.

Our embroidered tunic brings a burst of colorful flowers to your spring wardrobe. Artisans in a family-run Delhi workshop use nine shades of hand-dyed cotton thread to embroider flowers along the collar and sleeves of a traditional, split-V-neck cotton tunic. Yellow whipstitching along the cuffs and hem adds a finishing touch. Made in India.

In Hindu cosmology, the god of war rides a peacock. Beautiful and proud, Kartikeya’s peacock mount represents his power to conquer earthly desires—even the peacock’s well-deserved ego. The woven pattern of this beautiful hand-loomed shawl resembles peacock feathers, and the fiery red-orange interior shines through the dark blues, greens, and blacks with a slight ombré effect. Similar in style to a Peruvian ruana, this wrap can be worn as a layering piece when a day at the museum turns into a night of strolling unfamiliar streets. It is also a perfect personal throw for home or travel.

The Punjab region in northern India is brimming with highly creative artisans who make everything from ornate jewelry to detailed needlework bedding and fabric. This classic tunic represents those decorative arts with subtle tone-on-tone embroidery trimming the neck and cuffs and accented by a scattering of beads across the body and tiny bell buttons at the neckline. This embroidered tunic evolved from a typical Punjabi garment called a kameez, a loose cotton shirt with an airy quality to keep you cool. Made in India.

Traditional Indian styling in a vibrant fuchsia pattern and textured lightweight cotton make an excellent travel outfit. The Indian city of Jaipur has been an artistic center since the 18th century and is known as the Pink City because of the stucco that was used to imitate red sandstone. It is in the Pink City that this bright ensemble is made as part of a thriving cottage textile industry. The loose-fitting style is flattering on any woman, and the crinkle fabric makes this ideal for pack-and-go travel. Expand your travel wardrobe by pairing the tunic with jeans or the skirt with a T-shirt. Made in India of 100% cotton.
