I liked the picture upon ordering although the picture does not do the purse justice. I was quite impressed at the quality of material, & the leather stamped areas were really attractive. It will likely be in my purse holder longer than any other one. The depth is perfect and fits all my items. I believe an outside cell ph holder would benefit the purse - perhaps on the side. thanks its worth the price

It really is a nice bag; well crafted and large enough to hold my everyday things without being too large. I'm 6ft tall and sometimes have a hard time finding bags with long enough straps - this one adjusts perfectly.
My one disappointment was in the colour variation -- I expected some variations (it is hand crafted, after all) but some of the leather pieces in my bag were much lighter (more sand coloured), not the dark brown as pictured. It still looks very nice, but it wasn't the "look" I was expecting.
I kept the bag since it does look good (the different coloured pieces work harmoniously; they are not patchy looking). I do really like the bag and use it everyday. I gave it 3 stars due to the colour variation.

I really love this purse! The first time I wore it I received lots of compliments.

Some people have commented about a smell. Yes, there is a faint leather smell when you first get it, but just let it air out for a day or two and it goes away.

The smell takes a while to disapear. I guess it must be the oil finish that they apply to it.

Comments about Bolivian Tooled Leather Bag:

Very pretty bag and well made, too. BUT, the closure is very difficult to use, the bag itself is a bit small and the inside pockt (zippered) is totally useless because it is so small and flat. I had bought it as a present, but I returned it rather than giving it.

Comments about Bolivian Tooled Leather Bag:

I knew this bag was not going to be made of ultra-soft leather, but I didn't expect to be able to stand on it and not have it bend or give at all. I usually use a bag smaller than this & can fit everything I need to carry in it, because the leather gives. I couldn't fit as much in this larger bag because of the stiffness.

Replaced my Europen style leather carryall with this bag. It is super! Doesn't smell like some have said. Just the wonderful smell of hard thick leather. Use it everyday to carry wallet, meds, pens, check books and cell phone. Better than having a big bulge in my back pants pocket.

Artisans in Bolivia's Oruro and Potosí communities craft this buttery-soft leather bag, combining pieces of traditional woven tapestry. Both towns grew up around local silver mines in the early 1600s, but today the region is known more for its crafts and festivals like the famous Carnaval de Oruro. The tapestries are created on horizontal looms, with the artisans making up the pattern as they go along. Craftspeople in nearby La Paz combine the weaving with supple leather to create a handsome everyday bag.

The cowboy hat is an icon of life in the American west. Designed to provide insulation and protection from the elements, cowboys would dent the crown, roll the brim, and otherwise customize their hats to suit their personal preferences and the type of work they did. Today the hats are worn by men and women alike, for work and play alike. Our tooled leather version is made in Montana by Henschel Hats, an American manufacturer for almost 70 years. Made of genuine cowhide with an embossed floral pattern and a braided leather band.

Many pre-Columbian cultures have examples of woven fabrics dating back hundreds if not thousands of years. Guatemala is known for a type of weaving called double-ikat, which comes from an Indonesian word meaning “to bind.” In Ikat, threads are tie-dyed before being strung on the loom—this predetermines the pattern that will be created. Ikat can be used to create textiles of astonishingly intricate detail, as well as soft, blended patterns like on this punchy purple tote.
