Pendleton Woolen Mills has created distinctive blankets honoring America’s National Parks since the early 1900s. Each blanket has unique historic designs and colors that date back to frontier trading posts. The original blankets had 3, 4, or 5 black stripes incorporated in the design, which indicated the value. Fur trappers would bring their catch to the trading posts, and traders would hold up fingers to indicate the weight of the blanket in pounds that they were willing to trade for the trapper’s goods.

Choose Glacier National Park in Montana (natural with black, yellow, red, and green stripes), Yellowstone National Park spanning Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho (yellow with red and navy stripes), or Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona (navy with yellow, orange, and red stripes). Each blanket has the Pendleton label with the park name and an image of an important natural feature in the park.

100% virgin wool. Woven at the Pendleton Woolen Mill in Washougal, Washington.

Full: 80" x 90"

Dry clean only.

Comments about Pendleton National Park Blankets:

I bought several of these blankets for my cabin, on a wooded wilderness lake. We have a wood stove for heat, no electricity, and we shower in cold water that we pump from the lake. I wanted some colorful blankets to put on the beds, the sofa bed, and the chairs by the fire. I also wanted something warm to curl up in when the nights get cold, and after the aforementioned shower! These blankets are so nice, colorful and warm, and thicker than they look in the photos. The "full" size completely covers a queen size mattress with no side drop. I purchased the Glacier, Grand Canyon, and Yellowstone blankets. I would like to see the blankets from Yosemite, Crater Lake, Acadia and Rainier National Parks offered also. It's also nice to see more items featured from National Geographic that are made in the U.S.A. These are 100% pure virgin wool, made in Portland, Oregon.

Jack Landon, 12, and his younger sister, Ashley, accompany their veterinarian mother and photographer father to Yellowstone Park. Mrs. Landon has been called in to investigate an incident in which a hunting dog was purportedly chased onto park land and killed by a pack of wolves. The family dynamics are complicated by Troy, a troubled teen who is in the temporary foster care of the Landons. Due to miscommunication and unforseen circumstances, the young people end up spending a freezing night alone in the wild. Arrogant and condescending, Jack tries to assume control of the group, but Troy has his own agenda. Ashley, annoyed by her brother's attitude, asserts herself, and Jack finds that he must cooperate rather than dominate. The kids witness the shooting of a wolf and fear that the armed man may still be around. Throughout the night, they stay with the wounded wolf around a fire and talk and tell stories. In the morning, they are rescued and each has been affected by the ordeal. The wolf is saved and the mystery of the stalker is solved. This exciting book emphasizes the natural beauty and dangers of the wild. It includes several pages of full-color photos and facts about the Wolf Restoration Project and the nature of wolves.
