Meet the self-proclaimed Rocket City Rednecks. They’re five "backwoods" guys from the rocket city, Huntsville, Ala., home to NASA's Marshall Flight Center and the birthplace of the U.S. space program. Sure, they love to shoot stuff and drink beer, and one of ‘em lives in a trailer, but with a family tree full of NASA rocket scientists (not to mention their own PhDs and advanced degrees), they aim a little higher—like using homemade moonshine to fuel a rocket!

Combining a little hill-billy ingenuity with advanced engineering and physics to tackle real-world scenarios, this tight-knit group brings their own unique style of southern charm to science and technology.

Comments about Rocket City Rednecks DVD-R:

This show is wonderful, I watch it all the time- seriously, a couple days a week. I love the concept of them taking science into their own hands and creating and engineering different projects. It reminds me a bit of my dad actually. He was always working on different projects.
The guys in the show are very entertaining and funny. They seem down to earth, like people that you would want to hang out with on the weekend and have a beer with.
I can't wait for the next season of Rocket City Rednecks

For a world class organization, your online ordering isnt very good. i live in Canada but i cant get the order delivered to my door. And judging by the online comments these DVDs use a different format for play-back. Im taking a very big risk by having this order shipped to some American friends so that they can get it sent to me in Canada. I sure do hope these dvds will play in my machine.
And fix your online ordering system!

This is one of the better shows around and I always look forward to seeing it. I'd love to see it on a regular DVD as opposed to the finicky DVD-R discs. This show deserves it!

Comments about Rocket City Rednecks DVD-R:

I purchased 2 of these DVDs to give as gifts. The show is so great I wanted to share it with others but the DVDs are unwatchable. They skip, stop, and blur in lots of places. I have tried them on several DVD players including a new Blu-Ray that upconverts and each time you couldnt get through the DVD. I was given my money back but what a shame Nat Geo cant come up with a better product.

            DVD-R Glitch

By No luck with play back

Comments about Rocket City Rednecks DVD-R:

Rocket City Rednecks is a very entertaining show and I am looking forward to the next season. However, there is a glitch with the DVD-R play back on the second disc! About 10 minutes into the "Trailer Power" episode the program gets forwarded to the next chapter. So it skips forward too soon! That is what happened on the first copy that I ordered from Nat Geo. Customer Service was kind enough to send me a replacement copy.
But the replacement copy has the same play back glitch! I have even ordered a second copy, but I had to send it back, since it too had the "Trailer Power" forward-to-soon play back glitch.
So that is three different copies with the same play back glitch!

Over the centuries, explorers traded tales of a lost civilization amid the dense Amazonian rainforest. Scientists dismissed the legends as exaggerations, believing that the rainforest could not sustain such a huge population—until now. A new generation of explorers armed with 21st-century technology has uncovered remarkable evidence that could reinvent our understanding of the Amazon and the indigenous peoples who lived there. Using CGI and dramatic re-creations, National Geographic re-imagines the banks of the Amazon 500 years ago, teeming with inhabitants living in the Lost Cities of the Amazon.

The dog is the ultimate human creation. With 400 breeds and counting, the dog is more varied in size and behavior than any other species on the planet. National Geographic looks at man's evolutionary manipulation of dogs' appearance, talents and temperament—and the accelerating efforts to create breeds to suit our needs (more than 80 percent of today's breeds did not exist 150 years ago). From desirable traits like supersensitive hearing and smell to the unintended consequences of genetic diseases, learn how nature and man have partnered to deliberately create new and specialized versions of man's best friend.

For over 500 million years, the jellyfish has survived in our oceans. Today, global warming and pollution may be contributing to a population explosion, as billions of these sometimes venomous creatures increasingly swarm around our beaches and shorelines. And though they have no bones, blood or brain, some jellyfish are armed with a deadly arsenal unlike any other on the planet. National Geographic dissects the fascinating physiology of this living fossil, from its 24 clustered eyes down to the tips of its stinging tentacles, and examines how man's impact on the environment may be creating a growing invasion.
