Using seamless USGS topographic data, we're able to create home decor featuring maps of your most meaningful places. Provide any U.S. address and artisans in New England will create a coaster set on cork-backed, rustic tumbled marble-that reproduces a map of your location.

The map will show topographical information covering nine square miles including your chosen location, with some main streets and major landmarks. A small compass rose will indicate your chosen location and the address you provide will be featured on the personalized map legend. See the images above for examples of maps featuring both rural and suburban areas.

Please note: Personalized items cannot be returned unless damaged or defective. Please check your order carefully; once placed, your order for this item cannot be canceled. Not available for shipment outside of the U.S. Please allow 2-3 weeks for delivery to the continental U.S. and 4-6 weeks for delivery to Alaska and Hawaii.

Each coaster is 4" square.

What is TOPO? Topographical maps display land features such as elevation, roads, water, mountains, and some significant landmarks. Town and county names are sometimes shown. Streets are sometimes labeled. TOPO! is National Geographic’s own series of topographical maps.

How old are the maps? Our maps were originally drawn as long ago as 1890 and may have been updated many times since. Each map has been updated at least as recently as 2008.

What are topographical maps? Topographical maps display land features such as elevation, roads, water, mountains, and some significant landmarks. Town and county names are sometimes shown. Streets are sometimes labeled.

Why do you need a postal address? We create a 9-mile-square map with your chosen address just off center. We also type this address in the map legend. Please double-check the spelling! We do catch and fix most errors, but your help is much appreciated.

My map is off by a few miles or many miles! On rare occasions our mapping software does not recognize a location. This is more likely to happen in rural areas—you may have had similar experiences with online mapping services. If we do accidentally handcraft an incorrect map, we will work with you to determine the coordinates (latitude and longitude) of your location and create a new map for you using that data.

Why is my map so busy/so sparse? The charm of this product is that we use real maps, which are unique to every address. A map of New York City (population more than 8 million) will include many streets and alleys. A map of Box Elder, Montana (population just under 800), will be the exact opposite.

Our rustic tiles are carved from large marble blocks, ensuring that no two stones will ever be exactly alike. Then the pieces are tumbled to give them character that can be seen on every surface, edge, and corner. The result is a one-of-a-kind keepsake with more personality that would be possible from a piece of manufactured ceramic. Please see additional images for an example of a tumbled marble tile.

I bought these for my parents a few years ago. The area I wanted is a small town in northeastern Massachusetts. My family has a strong connection to this town, so I thought it would be perfect. Everything about the coasters was exactly what I had hoped for. Everyone loved them so much I wanted to buy them again for my boyfriend's family. However, his family doesn't have any particular connection to the US. His parents are from England and he and his siblings were born and grew up at their home in northern Italy--near one of the lakes--the perfect location for these coasters! I was so disappointed to discover that this item (and the others like it) are limited to US locations only. My only suggestion, because these really are wonderful products, is so expand to other countries. I would certainly get these again. Thank you!

The coasters were easy to order, $10 cheaper than similar ones sold elsewhere, and arrived quickly. They look great...but:

-the scale is not that precise. I wanted to place the center point so that 2 nearby landmarks would be included, but not even close

-the scale is too large for small rural areas. Instead of a street map, you'll get a big field of mostly green. Works best with interesting shapes on the coast

-the recipients commented that the maps used are old topographical maps, which don't clearly show inland bodies of water

So, as a conversation piece, they could be better (let us choose our own type of map, scale and placement online, etc....surely the technology is there), but they do make a unique, thoughtful, and useful gift. People who have everything probably don't have these yet, and even if they do, nothing wrong with having 2 sets.

These coasters were gotten for a friend that was retiring, so I used his job location for the address.
When he received the coasters he was just so happy, he commented on the detail of the map and how even his homes location was able to be seen clearly. Needless to say, ordering this gift was right on because it was something he had never seen before.
I didnt wait too long before I ordered myself a set and I too love them.

I bought these for my parents. They pretty much have everything they need, so when I found something that they didn't own but would use, I bought it. I ordered these coasters on a Monday afternoon, and they were delivered on a Wednesday, so first off, the shipping was incredibly fast. Also, the product itself turned out really nice too. I can clearly see on the map where they live on the coasters and the detail is fantastic. I was so impressed that I just ordered another set for another hard-to-shop-for person.

Although signal flags have been largely replaced by two-way radio and cell phones, in the 19th century they were how ships at sea communicated with each other. Each flag stands for a letter, but also represents a full message. For example, the “T” flag also meant “keep clear!” Today the flags are reserved for yacht racing and formal occasions. Choose your three-initial monogram and artisans in New England will create a coaster set on cork-backed, rustic tumbled marble that shows your initials along with the corresponding signal flags.

The tiny North African country of Tunisia on the Mediterranean coast is one of the world’s top 10 producers of olives. Almost than 7,000 square miles, more than 10 percent of the country’s land, is cultivated with olive trees. When the trees no longer bear fruit, their wood is harvested to make room for younger trees. The wood is very hard and durable, with a beautiful grain that makes it ideal for kitchenware and other highly decorative but functional items.
