Bring the spirit of the savannah to your dinner table with these hand-carved olive-wood salad servers. They’re created for National Geographic by members of Kenya’s Kamba tribe in a Nairobi craft studio. Men and women, many of whom are cousins and neighbors, work cooperatively to carve, smooth, paint, and polish each individual piece from a single branch.

Many of these artisans come from families that couldn’t afford to continue their education beyond primary school, so they’re focused on providing more opportunities for their own children. New orders are cause for celebration at the local church, as it can literally mean the difference between being able to afford tuition that semester or not.

Please allow for small variations in each handmade carving as you enjoy these charming serving pieces.

Handcrafted in Kenya. Approximately 12"L x 4"W.

Handwash with soap and water and towel dry. Do not put in a dishwasher.
